Atkins

So, I got these the other day as a way to fight my sweet tooth.  I don't know what the hell they put into these things to make them taste so yummy for so little sugar & calories, but it's not worth the fart fest I got going on.  We are talking about 4 hours of nasty loud farts.  Ewww.  So I'm only going to be indulging in these at home.  That and I have no plans to buy more.

stuck at 212

So I've been stuck at 212 for almost a whole week now.  I changed myfitnesspal to my newest weight, it requested I drop my daily caloric intake by about 30 calories.  I would say "done" but I've kinda gotten use to going over my daily goal in favor of lots of cardio.  Guess that's why I'm not losing.  Next week I'm back to work, for a week anyway.  That always helps me control my calories.

On the plus side.  Went and got my blood work done for a wellness thing at work.  Turns out, I'm in the normal range for everything.  Whoo hoo!  No diabetes for me.  That was a major concern and reason why I really started this whole Fit by 50.  See, I have a co-worker who was diagnosed and every time I see him eat something sugary, I call him "One foot" for the rest of the day.  Just a in-your-face reminder that I care about him and his health.  Plus, he's having a hard time being good.  Guess after 50+ years of stuffing his face with whatever he wants, being told "no sugar" automatically makes him crave it.  We always crave what we can't have.  Tried to tell him eat more dates 'nature's candy' but he just frowned and said "no."  Stubborn men.  Plus he doesn't do enough exercise to combat stress.

For anyone offended.  I do know that diabetes has many causes, not just too much sugar.  My father, aunt, nephew, uncle and I'm sure plenty more family members are diabetic.

My hubby has been suffering from nosebleeds for 2 days.  Told him to rub some Vaseline up his nose with a q-tip, but men are stubborn.  So I put a baby humidifier (all I have handy) in his bedroom.  Hope it helps.  Also told him "no picking, use a tissue."  Gross.   I know it's not his blood pressure or too much stress.  His nasal lining is dried out.

One thing I did learn, my cholesterol is getting too close to 199.  It's at 189.  So time to ditch more of the saturated fat foods.  I celebrated the ending of this by eating a actual french bakery croissant.  It was nice while it lasted, but clogged arteries are not part of my health goal.  No point in being Fit by 50 if I have a heart attack.

215.2 and B12 shots

Got back up to 216 so I have spent the last 3 days working on that.  Came down to my motto.  Eat less, move more.  That and no more pizza or Little Debbie Oatmeal Cookies.

Yesterday I had to drop in at work for something, had my street clothes on and the remarks I got were "amazing, crack baby, looking good."  I even had one co-worker say she was gonna hate me when I got skinny.  Told her I would love for her to hate me because that would mean I made it to my goal.

My concern if for them though.  They want to start getting B12 shots and take pills for weight loss.  Told them that the 10 minutes on my elliptical wakes me up and keeps me going all day.  I don't even consume my latte's anymore for a morning caffeine buzz.  So no shots or pills for me.  I'll stick with food and exercise.  Keep in mind, these friend who are talking about it are not very overweight, maybe 50 lbs at best.  I'm losing 120 lbs when it's all said & done.  What I've come to realize is that no one wants to exercise.  Not even for 10 minutes a day.  I feel 'em.  I use to be that person too.  Not anymore.

Eat less, move more.

215.6 Purge Day 1

I wish my pantry looked like this.

So one thing I like to do when opportunity knocks is purge.  Husband is out of town for the night and I have the whole day to myself.  So, here's how I spent the day.

0730 hrs- scale says 215.6, woohoo!  10 minutes on elliptical.

0745 hrs - strip beds, flip mattresses, install new heated mattress pads, start laundry.

0830 hrs - eat ham & cheese baked pastry, watched Falling Water, eat cinnamon roll.

0945 hrs - 10 minutes elliptical, check email, load & run dishwasher

1000 hrs - purge kitchen of unwanted / expired items, give up after purging the fridge until laundry isn't blocking pantry

1005 hrs -  contemplate going swimming despite Winter Weather Advisory, think about calling a repairman for furnace, play Coral Isle instead.

1015 hrs - swap out laundry, sprinkle Love My Carpet all over, back to playing Coral Isle, locate lemon chicken bake recipe, email friend about HVAC company she used.

1045 hrs - clean ceiling fan in bedroom

1100 hrs - vacuum, sweep & mop, think about going to Kroger for fresh herbs & unfrozen chicken, realize I have Cooked Perfect Lemon Pepper Chicken in freezer, problem solved.

Noon - swap out laundry, read email from friend about HVAC company, decide to take a break because right arm is hurting from tinnitus, should have gone swimming.  Watch Designated Survivor.

So you can pretty much guess how the rest of the day went.  Laundry was completed, beds were made, dishwasher unloaded and I went shopping at Target to use up some gift cards on steak.  Watched A Cure for Wellness, freaky movie, love that Dane guy.  Oh, and I did another 10 minute session on my elliptical just cause I wanted to.

I'm on staycation all week except tomorrow, gotta get recertified on GCIC.  Ugh, hate waking up early on a day off.

Eat less, move more.  Purge!

How a lazy person loses weight.

So strangely enough, without really trying to any extreme, I've lost 2 pounds.  Not bad for day 3 of the new year.  Technically I've lost a pound a day because I gained one back, then lost it again.  Down to 217.  Last year this time I was around 260-270, so I'm kicking it good.

I intended to add Air Squats, Push-Ups and weights to my daily routine, but so far I've only upped my walking steps to around 12-13K a day instead of the usual 10K.  Don't know why I'm fighting the new routine.  Hopefully tomorrow, I will either lose another pound or maintain my current 217 since I had a Martin's Steak & Egg biscuit for breakfast this morning and 2 truffles for lunch.  Bad fat.

But, tomorrow is another chance to get it right.  Heard today that it takes 21 days to create a habit and 6 months to make it part of your personality.   So, 10 minutes a day on the elliptical is now part of my personality.

Friend at work mentioned she was very proud of me.  I told her that it's a miracle because I am one the world's laziest people and will find the easiest way to lose weight due to my personality.   Or, finding the most logical way of doing it for me so that I can spend what time I have on Earth left doing what I want.  Losing the weight and getting in shape means I might last beyond the usual 65-75 years.

However, I wonder if I should be following a certain type of diet.  On GMA they said the best diets are Mediterranean and DASH.  Seeing how I love to eat all types of food, I rather watch caloric intake and manage my sugars so I don't miss out on something YUMMY!

Having said that, you gotta find what works for your body.  It might be KETO or DASH or Weight Watchers.  Me:  myfitnesspal.com, 10+ thousand steps & 10 minutes on the elliptical and sex 4 times a week.

Eat less, move more.  You can do this.  Let 2018 be all about YOU!
